While its title may be superfluous, Galapagos: The Islands That Changed the World is a beautifully filmed journey into “the islands of the tortoise.” Located due west of Ecuador, the Galapagos islands are full of gorgeous scenery and exotic wildlife. And this 150-minute documentary shows it all, thanks to stunning cinematography shot from all viewpoints–the air, sea and, of course, land. The collection is both soothing and exhilarating as it allows viewers to peek in on mating albatrosses (which are monogamous), penguins fishing, and surprisingly graceful giant tortoises swimming in the ocean. passable, but not extraordinary
This was the first blu-ray DVD I bought. I bought it to wow myself, to see if I should buy a blu-ray machine.

Great disc to add to your Blu-ray collection
“Galapagos” weighs in at a hefty 150 minute run-time, all packed onto one disc. For nature lovers and documentary fans, that’s great news.

A calmer “Planet Earth” series
Smooth, amazing aerial cinematography. Good music. Excellently written. I gained an entirely new perspective on these Islands that I didn’t know much about.

Excellent documentary!
This documentary is very entertaining. The narrator is really good too. Her voice fit over the film harmoniously. I wish they would show more different kind of lizards.

Visually stunning!
I can understand why electronics stores use this as a visual to sell their TVs. The transfer on blu-ray is fantastic! The contrasts are very sharp.

Good – But Not Planet Earth
Planet Earth has set the standard by which all nature documentaries will be judged for years to come.
